Ditch those bad boys Mars and Snickers as they contain plenty of sugar, artificial colouring, additives that make you eat more of it and swap it out for this delectable treat!

There’s something about real, unprocessed food that doesn’t trigger those crazy urge of wanting more and more.

Maltesers was my favourite and I could never imagine in a million years how could I give up those cute crunchy milk chocolate balls?

Until someone said to me that they looked like poops.

Ever since then, I didn’t look at Maltesers the same way anymore.

So instead of buying that, I made Almond Melts (Raw, Gluten-Free)

Best of all?

No baking required.

No added sugar or white flour.

In here, I’m using almond meal (used interchangeably with almond flour) : Naturally grain-free, high protein and rich in Vitamin E. Lower in omega-6 than many other nuts, but it still contains about 12g omega -6 fatty acids per 100g whole almonds.

Why almond flour? It does not contain gluten (yay for our intestines and for those who’re wheat intolerant), hence reducing the chance of leaky gut issues or symptoms of Celiac disease such as bloating, gas, diarrhea, stomach pain.

Are gluten-free food the best? No. In fact,  I hate to see foods in the supermarket because some common ingredients used in gluten-free food such as rice flour, corn starch, tapioca starch and potato flour raises blood sugar higher than wheat and wreck havoc on our metabolism. You don’t want that.

Almond Melts

Ingredients
  • ½ cup almond flour
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil, more as needed
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon Cacao nibs
  • A dash of cinnamon
Instructions
  1. In a bowl, whisk all the ingredients together until well mixed. (You can also use a blender or food processor)
  2. Pour the mixture into mould.
  3. Place them in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  4. Once set, the melts can be stored in the fridge or freezer. Always serve chilled as they melt quickly at room temperature.
