25 Jun Mango Tango Green Smoothie
One of must-do things when I’m in Australia is to look for Boost Juice bar and pick up my ultimate favourite Mango Tango crush.
As you probably know, I’m all for real food, to the best ability- I try really hard amidst the busy life.
So that I’ve the peace of mind of getting fresh and healthy food.
That’s the good stuff, right?
Here’s the thing- let’s have a look at their ingredients:
mango, passion fruit, mango nectar, tropical juice, sorbet & ice.
I’m not so sure if I’ll go crazy about it anymore.
Looking at it as a whole, it’s too much sweetness in one sitting (that probably explains why we all love their stuff).
Why is there mango nectar when you have mango and passionfruit in it already? Do I really need sorbet in my drink? What’s with the tropical juice?
It’s more like a sugary meal,
causing blood sugar to rise rapidly and liver to pump more insulin in the blood to counter the spike.
So, since mango is in season now (seeing mangoes from Thailand and Manila.. super juicy and omg smells heavenly!), I’ve decided to make my own – with a healthier twist!
A dose of green phytonutrients, boatloads of vitamins and minerals (you can pack more greens than you can normally eat in one sitting. Best part? No cooking required! ), fruit to sweeten it up and pack more nutrient (going for greens to fruit ratio of 2:1 to keep sugar content low) and booster hempseed for protein and omega-3!
That’s all you need.
And I promise, you’ll sipping to the last drop, hardly noticing any green, bitter taste in the smoothie.
Combining all of them together in today’s recipe:
- 2 cups of baby spinach
- ½ cup of frozen mango
- 2 tsp of hemp protein
- ¼ cup of water
- Add all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth.
- If smoothie is too thick, add a splash of water.
